Trip to Vermont

I know I am behind on this post but better late than never. It was Thursday night when we decided we would be heading to Vermont the next day, September 25th. Me and the boys and Grammie and Pee Paw. Daddy would be staying at home. We headed out for our flight to Boston where we would rent a car and start the 4 hour drive to Burlington, VT. Flying standby worked out okay this trip...no waiting for another flight. My Mom and I managed to convince a couple of people to swap seats with us so she could sit with me and the boys. Things seemed to be going great after finally getting Connor on to the plane (he was very excited and not listening very well). As we were getting ready to take off Connor was not wanting to sit still in his seat so the nice lady in the seat behind him asked him to hold her hand because she was scared. Well he took his job VERY seriously. He held her hand and settled right down. After we got up in the air he fell asleep still holding her hand. Eventually we told her he was asleep and she took her hand away. A few moments later he woke up and immediately starting looking for her hand. He had to have it back. After about 15 minutes of him being asleep (the women was no longer having to hold his hand) he peed in his seat. Great! So I change his clothes and he had to sit on his blanket the rest of the flight. We survived the rest of the flight. Both boys were very good. It took about an hour for us to collect our bags, get to the rental place, get our car and install both car seats. We then made the very long 4 hour car to my Aunt's house. We arrived at 11pm. Since Connor had slept for 3 hours during the ride, he did not go to sleep until after 1am! I got about 4 hours sleep that night. The next day we went to lunch with the family for my Grampie's 85th Birthday. It was so good to see everyone. We had not been to Vermont since the 4th of July last year. On Sunday we spent the afternoon at my Grandparent's house. It drizzled all day so we did not get to enjoy being outside while there. After we left their house we headed to my Uncle's house to enjoy a great dinner with the family. Connor got to play with my cousin's daughter Paige who is "3 & 3 quarters!" They had a blast. It was cute to see Paige having a salad for dinner. Connor would NEVER eat a salad, or anything green for that matter. Once it was time for bed Connor decided he was ready to go home and did not want to stay at that house. He was scared and threw a fit for a while and then ended up sleeping with his Grammie and Pee Paw. We were up at 4:30am the next morning to head out for the 3 hour drive to the airport. My mom had to go Washington DC for work instead of flying home with us. So that left me, the boys and Pee Paw to make it home on our own with all our luggage (I had to buy a new suitcase in VT because I noticed once we got there that mine had holes in it!). On the return flight Pee Paw was not able to sit with us so I was alone with both boys! Connor was awake the entire flight and thank God that the woman sitting next to him was happy to entertain him for the 4 hour flight. Hudson had 4 messy diapers! Towards the end of the flight Connor got very bored of sitting there and he was tired. We had some turbulence on the descent that was a bit scary for him. He said he was "probably scared". He finally fell asleep during landing. I was very proud of my boys...they actually did very well. The nice woman actually thanked me for staying so calm under the situation of having two little ones by myself. But they weren't bad and it doesn't do anyone any good to get worked up over little things. Sometimes you just have to roll with the punches. We made it home and boy was I exhausted!
